Inuyasha: Kagome Higurashi

As a deadly poison takes hold of Inuyasha’s friends, a demon named Ginkotsu prowls the countryside in search of Inuyasha. Nearby Jakotsu and Renkotsu overhear the fight and want to be a part of the action. Inuyasha leads the dying Kagome, Miroku and Sango to a cave and has Shippo guard them, while he goes to fight the demon. Heading for safety, Shippo brings the others to a temple watched over by Renkotsu, who puts a spell on them.

Fifty years later, Inuyasha was released from the tree by Kagome, a young girl from the present who unknowingly carried the Shikon no Tama inside her body. Kagome accidentally shattered the jewel while shooting at a demon trying to flee with it, and the shards were scattered around Japan. Inuyasha, Kagome, and their friends (InuYasha-tachi) then began the search for the shards of the Shikon no Tama.

Inuyasha and the gang continue to search for Naraku's castle. Kagome senses a shard of the Shikon jewel approaching. The source turns out to be Koga, the young leader of the Wolf-Demon Tribe. He demands to be told the location of Naraku's castle.

As time goes by, Inuyasha begins to reveal more about his past relationship with the high priestess Kikyo, leading the audience to believe that there was more to their relationship than originally suspected. As the story progresses, Inuyasha develops feelings for Kagome as well, giving the adventurous story line a touch of romance, making it popular with a diverse fan base.

When Inuyasha and Kagome stay in a villlage overnight, the locals treat Inuyasha with severe cruelty and humiliation. After Inuyasha goes off on a rant about the hardships and injustices of living as a hanyou, Kagome wants to show him that she accepts him as he is with no reservations. Highly recommended fic.

Inuyasha's inital reaction to Kagome was extremely hostile, as he literally thought she was Kikyo. They fight all the time, their quarrels usually ending with Kagome using the power of the rosary around Inuyasha's neck to make him fall to the ground with a command of osuwari! (sit). Inuyasha clearly cares for her very deeply, even loves her, but whether he loves Kagome more than Kikyou remains unknown. However, he clearly stated that Kagome was the first human that he could ever trust; and further that his feelings for Kikyou were due to his being responsible for her death.
