Internet Providers: Services
built 659 days ago
An Internet Provider is a company providing services that enable you to connect to the Internet. The most common method to connect to your service provider is using a dial up connection. A dial up connection dials out through your computer's modem and a standard phone line. Once your computer connects to your service provider you can open a browser to surf the Internet or send and receive email via the dial up networking connection, commonly referred to as a DUN. High speed DSL, Cable, or Satellite Internet services are rapidly becoming popular. These services connect to the service provider via special hardware interfaces that enable very high speed Internet access.
By 2004, a year after the U.S. invasion, about 20 Internet service providers were operating in Baghdad. These days, roughly 50 companies offer home Internet access, according to estimates by Sa'ad and Emad Natiq, a network management engineer who works for several of the firms.
