4. Internet Connection -- Internet Connection Firewall
   On Windows XP with SP1, Internet Connection Sharing, Internet Connection Firewall, and Network Bridge are not enabled by default, and Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) is available only on computers that have two or more network connections. An administrator or user with administrative credentials can enable ICS by clicking the Advanced tab on the Properties page for a network connection (in Control Panel\Network Connections).    Pictures Toolbar for Internet Explorer allows you to download all images that are linked from a page and then view them as a slideshow in the browser window. The toolbar makes a handy addition to IE for people that frequently download large numbers of images from web sites.    If you connect two internet providers to the same network so that you have two different router addresses, you can use your DHCP server to give a different router address to each device on your network. This can be done by using a reservation in your DHCP server. If you rely on a DHCP server inside your router, you will want to physically separate your networks. If you use a DHCP server that supports reservations, you can specify a different router IP address in the "routers" option in the DHCP scope.

   As well as networking the old fashioned way, use the internet to network. Do you belong to email listservs or discussion groups?  If so, use them.  Visit discussion boards like the Job Search Forum to network with career professionals and other job seekers.  Use Vault's message boards or Wetfeet.com's industry and company boards to get the inside scoop on career fields and employers that interest you. Or visit one of the other site's that focus on online job search and career networking. If you belong to a professional association visit its web site for career assistance.  Are you a college alumnus? Contact the Career Services office at your alma mater - many universities have online career networks where you can find alumni who will be thrilled to help you with your job search.
