International Paper is a manufacturer of containerboard in the United States. Over one-third of the Company's production consists of specialty grades, such as BriteTop. About 70% of its production is converted domestically into corrugated boxes and other packaging by the Company's 65 United States container plants. In Europe, the Company's operations include one recycled containerboard mill in France and 22 container plants in France, Italy, Spain, Turkey and Morocco. In Asia, its operations include eight container plants in China and one container plant in Thailand. The Company's container plants are supported by regional design centers, which offer total packaging solutions and supply chain initiatives.

The aggregate annual sales of the enterprise skip up to almost $22 billion dollars every year, as stated by the company records. Interestingly, like its ever-growing revenue, the operational centers of the company are growing too. The enterprise has its facilities in over 20 countries, and is estimated to employ over 50,000 people all over the world. International Paper has put up the tradition of never treading those forests, which are declared to be endangered. On the other hand they even sustain the forest certification standard recognition.

In July 2007, International Paper acquired the remaining shares of Compagnie Marocaine des Cartons et des Papiers. In February 2007, the Company completed the sale of its Arizona Chemical business to Rhone Capital III L.P. In January 2007, International Paper completed the sale of its kraft papers business to Stone Arcade Acquisition Corp. The kraft papers business sold by the Company included the Roanoke Rapids mill located in North Carolina, and the Ride Rite dunnage bag plant located in Fordyce, Arkansas. On September 1, 2006, the Company sold its Brazilian coated paper business to Stora Enso Oyj. The business included a coated paper mill and lumber mill in Arapoti, Parana State, Brazil, as well as 50,000 hectares (approximately 124,000 acres) of forestland in Parana. In August 2006, the Company sold its coated and supercalendered papers business to CMP Holdings LLC, a subsidiary of Verso Paper Holdings LLC, an affiliate of Apollo Management L.P.
