When it launched, Independence Air shunned global distribution system participation in favor of direct Internet booking channels. Influenced by corporate travel manager requests, it later reversed that strategy and eventually listed fares and inventory in all four primary GDSs. However, Independence Air ... now promotes a corporate booking portal on its direct Web site.

Independence Air is offering special seven-day advance-purchase Internet sale fares to both Orlando and Tampa from Huntsville for $59 one-way. Regular fares will be as low at $69 one-way to no more than $149 one-way, officials said.

Its truly amazing that an airline that began with over 500 million in cash on hand more then any other start-up airline in U.S history is now totally broke.

Independence Air's third quarter financial report came out Wednesday. The $82.7 million in losses compares to a net income of $21.3 million for the third quarter 2003. Total operating revenues for the third quarter in 2004 were $119.6 million, compared to $221.0 million in the third quarter of 2003.
