Independence Air announced today that it will start service to five new destinations on the west coast. Flights to San Diego will start April 14, and flights to Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose, and Seattle/Tacoma will start May 1. The flights will be operated with A319 aircraft and are a big step in helping Independence Air get more passengers into its system which has struggled in recent months, and has had to cut capacity significantly to get better load factors. Will the new service save the struggling carrier, or will JetBlue and United quickly prove Independence's efforts futile?
