The most recent and mainstream successful Incubus band is a five-guy American alternative rock/metal group out of Calabasas, California. Frequent headliners at Lollapalooza and Ozzfest, they are highly successful recording artists with an enormous fan base. In addition to their many albums, there are several DVDs and bootlegs of live performances which are considered highly collectible by fans.
The fusion-generated funk of Incubus finds its release in the combination of five young creative forces. Brought together as youths in Calabasas, Calif., the founding members of the newest free-form funk band began their groove in high school. Lead singer and percussionist Brandon Boyd met drummer Jose Pasillas in elementary school. In middle school, the two friends and future musicians met their guitarist Mike Einziger. However, it wasn't until the 10th grade, when the trio met their bassist, Alex Katunich, that they decided to form a band.
Incubus issued a limited edition version of Morning View on October 1 to coincide with their fall headlining tour. The new version of the album contained a DVD dubbed the "Morning After View Session". It featured the U.K. video for the group's track "Are You In?", tour footage, new artwork, behind the scenes material, and more. Incubus' last performance in 2002 (on November 1) brought several eras for the band to a close. Their last show of the tour would be their last show touring behind 2001's Morning View, as the band looked on to playing new music. The show would ... prove to be their last with bass player Alex Katunich, who left the band due to personal differences.

Incubus has rolled out dates for a massive summer tour, marking a triumphant return to the road for a band that was recently sidelined by guitarist Mike Einziger's hand injury. "We're going to be playing new material and old material," Einziger said. "For me, I'll be just getting back into what really actually feels like home to me, which is being on tour and playing concerts." The band is touring behind its latest studio album, Light Grenades.
Going in historical order, the first "Incubus" band came from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. This Incubus created music in the tradition of Motorhead, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. Music by the original Incubus is ... occasionally found on collections of '80s Deathrock.
