1. Mp3 Players -- Samsung Uproar
   Broadcom, semiconductor manufacturer for both wired and wireless communications, has announced that their Broadcom BCM2048 SoC (system-on-a-chip) is in the newest Samsung MP3 players -- YP-P2 and YP-T10. The Broadcom BCM2048 SoC is a combined FM radio and Bluetooth chip. This means that the chip is responsible for the MP3 players being able to connect wirelessly through Bluetooth and receive FM radio broadcasts using said MP3 player models. The BCM2048 supports Bluetooth 2.0 completely, albeit being able to support 2.1 as well. In regards to the FM radio functionality, the Broadcom BCM2048 SoC features Radio Broadcast Data Service (RBDS) processing, high receiver sensitivity, and station information enhancements through intelligent Radio Data Service (RDS).
2. Sputnik 1 -- World
   If Sputnik 1 caused an uproar in the United States, Sputnik 2 with Laika aboard caused pandemonium. The cries were for the government to do something fast before the Communists obtained a foothold throughout space. Many of the World War II generation claimed that this was worse than Pearl Harbor because the two Sputnik launches occurred within a month; there was only one Pearl Harbor.
3. Slashdot -- Users
   Slashdot is having a discussion based on; "Remember the Facebook News Feed privacy uproar? What about the Beacon scandal from late last year? Privacy activists are rallying around yet another major issue at Facebook, in which the company is secretly sharing user data with third parties.
4. Novartis -- Novartis Group
   Novartis officials say they are concerned about the damage the campaign is causing the company's reputation. "We didn't quite expect the uproar we've had," says Paul Herrling, head of corporate research at Novartis, who says he has met with the group to defend Novartis.

6. Janeane Garofalo -- West Wing
   At 5-foot-1, Janeane Garofalo is a small target, but she looms large in the crosshairs of conservative television talk show hosts, radio shock jocks and rabid right-wing websites. While the U.S. marched to war, the actor and stand-up comedian opposed a preemptive attack on Iraq, urging diplomacy and cooperation with the United Nations instead. Given the military victory in Iraq and the triumphalism that permeates the airwaves, was she sorry for earlier predictions of the war's dire consequences? Not by a long shot.
7. Harriet Miers -- Valley View
   The Judiciary Committee’s questionnaire did ask Miers to identify constitutional issues she has worked on in the White House, and to provide copies of materials reflecting her familiarity with and views on such questions. As the Committee explained, this was to allow the Committee to learn about her experience with and views on important constitutional issues – a perfectly reasonable, indeed necessary, part of fulfilling the Senate’s constitutional duty of advice and consent. But Senators gave no indication that they were unwilling to work with the White House to get information they needed while letting the White House hold back sensitive materials to the extent possible.
8. Ann Coulter -- Washington Post
   The context of Coulter's one-liner was probably too Hollywood for her audience. (As UPI explained, Coulter was probably riffing off actor Isaiah Washington's recent—and calculated—entry into rehab after he called one of his Grey's Anatomy co-stars a "faggot.") Townhall.com's Dean Barnett wrote that "uncomfortable silence" and not "boisterous laughter" followed her remark.
9. Philadelphia -- Greater Philadelphia
   Philadelphia's four urban stations (WUSL ("Power 99"), WPHI ("100.3 The Beat"), WDAS and WRNB) are popular choices on the FM dial. WJJZ is the city's "smooth jazz" station. When WJJZ was discontinued in August 2006, it caused an uproar among listeners, but it was revived three months later, under new ownership (Greater Media) and with a new frequency (97.5). The former WJJZ is now WISX, "Philly's 106.1".
10. Eleanor Powell -- Glenn Ford
    At the age of thirty-three, Eleanor Powell gave up her career as a Hollywood dancer/actress to take on the new, and according to her, more important role of wife and mother. At the time of her early retirement, Eleanor was already a well-known, well-loved performer. Giving up her career for a life of domestic bliss to be married to a little known actor by the name of, Glenn Ford, had studio moguls and fans in an uproar. It wasn't until three years after their marriage, in 1946, that the public and studio heads knew who Glenn Ford really was. It was that year that "Gilda" was released, which starred Glenn and Rita Hayworth. They would electrify the screen in what was to become a "classic". Glenn Ford had "overnight" become a major star.
