In 1951, Ida Lupino married her co-star (from 1949's Woman in Hiding) Howard Duff. The next year she embarked on a new career in the fledgeling television industry, first as an actress on dramatic anthology programs like Four Star Theater.

From January 1957 through September 1958, Lupino starred with her husband, Howard Duff, in the CBS comedy Mr. Adams and Eve. They played husband and wife film stars named Howard Adams and Eve Drake in this series. After guest starring on popular TV shows in the 1970s, she retired after making her final film appearance in 1978, aged 60.
