   Lucy.com's lucy.community site is an ongoing philanthropy program with the goal to support and empower women to be active. Each month, the site will make a donation to a non-profit organization whose missions are aligned with lucy.com's goal to get women involved in sports and fitness. The site says that, at a time when the majority of corporate donations come from well established organizations. it is breaking new ground by giving back to the community. 2. Lucille Ball -- Love Lucy
   For more than thirty years, Lucille Ball was one of the most recognized and loved entertainers in the world. Known to all simply as Lucy, she portrayed a scatterbrained housewife with the ability to turn simple chores into unparalleled fiascoes. Clumsy and unsophisticated at nearly everything she tried (and she tried nearly everything), the television Lucy won the hearts of average Americans across all social and cultural lines with her wacky schemes. Ironically, it was Ball's wide range of experience and talents that made her such a success in this role.

4. Gene Tierney -- Lucy Muir
   Gene Tierney gives a tender performance as the widow, Lucy Muir, who decides to leave the home of her stifling, controlling in-laws to make a new life for herself and her young daughter Anna (Natalie Wood). She chooses a seaside cottage, although she is warned not to take it, and when she visits the residence she finds out why she has been cautioned - the place is haunted by a grumpy sea captain, Daniel Gregg (Rex Harrison), who very much wants things his own way. Despite her delicate femininity, Lucy refuses to let Gregg intimidate her, and moves in. Their relationship, at first a bickering one, becomes one of mutual interest and it blossoms as Lucy (whom Gregg christens Luchia) finds that she is bankrupt and can't afford the house, so helps her write a novel based on his seafaring adventures. As they fall in love, it becomes very complicated, as he is a ghost and she is among the living, and when George Sanders' untrustworthy rake comes into Lucy's life, Gregg makes the painful decision to leave and tells Lucy as she slumbers that it was all a dream - she wrote the book, she dreamed him up, although there is regret as he takes one last longing look at her. Lucy resumes her life, having completely forgotten about Daniel, only to discover that her flesh and blood suitor has a wife and children, and Anna Lee shines brightly in her small role of Sanders' long-suffering but understanding wife.
5. Robert Donat -- Lucie Mannheim
   After a turbulent evening at the theatre, Richard (Robert Donat) comes into the possession of a strange woman (Lucie Mannheim), who claims to be a spy. By morning she's dead and Richard is left to meet what would've been the woman's next contact. But trouble after mishap follows Richard wherever he goes. He gets pegged for murder and typically receives no help from the people he meets, such as the lovely but hostile Pamela (Madeleine Carroll), for instance.
6. Lucy -- National Museum
   Lucy is the patron saint of the blind. Braille is an important means of communication for those with visual impairment or blindness. Support the teaching of braille in schools and learn about it yourself by calling your local chapter of the National Federation of the Blind.
7. Lucy Liu -- Ally Mcbeal
   Born to Chinese immigrants and raised in an Italian neighborhood in Queens, Lucy Liu's interest in acting started after landing the lead role in her high school play <i>Alice in Wonderlandi>. She moved to Los Angeles to go pro, and her lucky break came in 1997 when she got a small part in <i>Ally McBeali>, playing razor-tongued Ling; she stole the show, and her role was expanded. Since then, the actress who staunchly insists she doesn't want to only play stereotypically Asian roles has rocketed to stardom as a member of the <i>Charlie's Angelsi> crime-fighting trio, the dominatrix in <i>Paybacki> and the butt-kicking O-Ren Ishii in <i>Kill Bill: Vol. 1i>.
8. Lucy Lawless -- New Zealand
   The TV show <i>Xena, Warrior Princessi>, starring Lucy Lawless as a campy barbarian-with-a-bosom, was a surprise hit of the late 1990s. (The <i>Xenai> series began as a spinoff of the fantasy series <i>Herculesi>, which starred Kevin Sorbo.) A mostly-unknown actress from New Zealand, Lawless suddenly was a television star and a particular cult favorite among America's lesbian community. Her feature films include the animated <i>Hercules and Xena: The Battle for Mount Olympusi> (1998), a cameo appearance in the blockbuster <i>Spider-Mani> (2002, with Tobey Maguire) and the comedy <i>Eurotripi> (2004).
9. Lucy Liu -- Acting
   For her sophomore year, Lucy went to Ann Arbor and joined the University of Michigan, where she studied singing, acting and dancing. She ultimately graduated with a degree in Asian languages and cultures.
10. Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond) -- Debra Barone
    Patricia has talked about how before she got cast in <i>Everybody Loves Raymond,i> she was clipping coupons on her porch to save a few cents on some ballpark franks. When she was told that there was a new television show looking for a "Patty Heaton type," she went into the audition all flustered, because she was having babysitter issues at home. Apparently, though, this demeanor was a reflection of what the casting directors wanted in the Debra Barone character, so it helped Heaton land the job. (edit)
