According to the Hungarian Constitution, the flag of Hungary is a red-white-green tricolor. However, the tricolor with the coat of arms in it is more or less used as the de facto national flag. Namely, on national holidays,about 30-70% of the hoisted national flags are bearing a coat of arms. These coat of arms-decorated flags can be found both on state or government buildings and on private houses. The choice between coat of arms and none-coat of arms flags IMHO depends chiefly on the political views of the one who hoists it: between 1990-1994, when a conservative government was in power, almost all flags hoisted were with coat of arms. Between 1994-1998 , the ratio of flags with coat of arms decreased form 80% to 30%.

In 1907 the length of the navigable waterways of Hungary was 3200 m., of which 2450 m. were navigable by steamers. .Seaports. - On the Adriatic lies the port of Fiume (q.v.), the only direct outlet by sea for the produce of Hungary. Its commanding position at the head of the Gulf of Quarnero, and spacious new harbour works, as ... its immediate connexions with both the Austrian and Hungarian railway systems, render it specially advantageous as a commercial port. As shipping stations, Buccari, Portore, Selce, Novi, Zengg, San Giorgio, Jablanac and Carlopago are of comparative insignificance. The whole of the short Hungarian seaboard is mountainous and subject to violent winds.

In 2003, the total population of Hungary was estimated at approximately 10.1 million. Hungary is predominantly homogeneous: Approximately 90 percent of the population are Hungarian. The remaining 10 percent are Romani (gypsies), German, Serb, Slovak, Romanian, Armenian, and other ethnicities. About 67.5 percent of Hungarians are Roman Catholic, 20 percent Calvinist, 5 percent Lutheran, and 7.5 percent other faiths.
