Off the set, Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart hardly spoke during the filming of Casablanca. She said later, "I kissed him but I never knew him." Years later, after Bergman had taken up with Italian director Roberto Rossellini, and bore him a child, Bogart confronted her. "You used to be a great star," he said. "What are you now?" "A happy woman," she replied.

Bogart had once again defined his career as an actor, and it was just in time for the casting of the romantic war drama, Casablanca. Directors engaged talented beauty Ingrid Bergman as Bogart's co-star, and watched (amid a flurry of writers and revisions) as the story naturally metamorphosed through the last day of shooting. The result was a movie that still vies for the best picture ever made. Released on January 23, 1943, it captivated audiences everywhere. Casablanca won Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Screenplay and Best Director, and received nominations in five other categories, including Bogart for Best Actor.
Bogart's most famous film of his career, "Casa Blanca" was produced in 1943, with Ingrid Bergman as his co-star. Many film connoisseurs, to this day, consider "Casa Blanca" to be one of the top ten films ever produced. "Casa Blanca" won the Academy's best picture award, and Bogart was nominated for the Academy's best actor award but did not win the Oscar. The noted actors, Peter Lorrie, Claude Rains, Sidney Greenstreet, and Dooley Wilson... starred in the film.

Bogart was surrounded by an international cast of well-known actors, including Ingrid Bergman, Claude Rains, Peter Lorre, Sidney Greenstreet, Paul Henreid and Conrad Veidt. Dooley Wilson played the part of Sam, Rick's confidant and piano player, even though he could not play the piano. The script and Max Steiner's musical score have both been praised extensively, as has the cinematography.

In the classic movie to end all classic movies, Bogart plays the mysterious romantic hero and Ingrid Bergman his lost love. You've got to have a heart of stone if you don't fall for the romance, the adventure, the suspense and the patriotic fervor of Casablanca. What a movie!
