During the Guild Wars, the Human empires of Ascalon, Kryta and Orr were at war. Thanks to the Charr threat, the Guild Wars ended. The Krytan Royal family was replaced by the White Mantle. The White Mantle and Ascalon are on peaceful terms, although King Adelbern of Ascalon does not trust the Krytans. The Shining Blade is opposed to the practices of the White Mantle and aims to remove them from power.
