Hughes's second appeal took place on 4 September 2001, but the Court of Appeal again decided that there were no grounds for his convictions to be quashed. The judges who made the decision ... ruled that they would not allow Hughes to further contest his convictions unless any new evidence turned up. Hughes then decided to take his case to the European Court of Human Rights, but has so far yet to do this.

The Texas Theatre was built by Howard Hughes during the depths of the Depression. It was the first air conditioned theater in Dallas, and one of the biggest. Now its 665 seats have been restored; the cushions will be installed in a few days. New carpeting is ... on the way.

The photographs of Hughes are remarkable in that they depict an apparently relaxed and frequently smiling Howard Hughes. It is a far different image than that of the paranoid recluse who made newspaper headline in the 1960's and 1970's.

[H]e decided he would forge letters and legal documents allegedly written by Howard in order to make the deal appear even more genuine. He would use a paragraph from a 1970 Newsweek article titled, The Case of the Invisible Billionaire, which had an actual handwriting sample from Howard, to be used as a model for his own letter. It would be a risky undertaking but could ... have promising results.
