Houston Texans: Games
built 234 days ago
To illustrate how dominant the Indianapolis Colts were Sunday against the Houston Texans, they scored on six of their first 8 possessions. While for the most part the game was meaningless to the Colts, coach Tony Dungy wasn’t about to repeat a mistake he made a while back: rest starters prematurely. The Colts had a season-high 458 yards of offense, as they routed the Houston Texans 38-15 at Indianapolis.
On the brink of his first win as coach of the Houston Texans, Gary Kubiak couldn't bear to look. Too bad, because if he'd turned around he would have seen No. 1 draft pick Mario Williams make a game-saving play. Williams tipped a two-point conversion that would have tied the game and finally got his first sack as the Texans beat Miami 17-15 on Sunday.

The WFL Texans survived in Houston for 11 games, going 3-7-1. Shreveport received the team on September 18, 1974 by inheriting the Houston Texans. On September 23, 1974, the old Houston Texans were rechristened the Shreveport Steamer. The franchise, according to the WFL, was operated on a "play now, pay later" basis. The team was coached by Marshall Taylor, a former star player at Tennessee Tech. The Steamer made their debut two nights later, on September 25 in their new home against the Memphis Southmen, the new Steamer played in front of just over 22,000 fans, and lost their opener, 17-3 to the Memphis Southmen.
September 8, 2002 – The Houston Texans shock the Dallas Cowboys in the first game in franchise history, defeating the Dallas Cowboys 19-10 at Reliant Stadium. David Carr throws two touchdown passes, helping the team become the first in 41 years to win its inaugural game.

On the last day of 2006, the Cleveland Browns played the Houston Texans. It reminded that once upon a time, the Cleveland/Houston game was a great rivalry. The Browns were owned by Art Modell and the Oilers were owned by Bud Adams. Well, someone dropped a nickel in Baltimore and Modell took the Browns out there to get it then someone else dropped a nickel Nashville and Adams took the Oilers out there to get it.
