House of 1000 Corpses: Rob Zombie

House of 1000 Corpses from Rob Zombie All in all, House of 1000 Corpses is an impressive debut for Rob Zombie. It’s a creepy little film that will provide horror fans with a very pleasant surprise. While it tends to be a bit uneven at times, it moves along at a brisk pace and includes some nice acting by a core group of screen veterans. It’s far better, and far more original, than most horror movies being turned out today with ten times the budget. And if it had actually been made in the seventies, it would probably be considered a classic. Who knows?

Rob Zombie puts on an elaborate production with each release going back to his White Zombie days and the inventive soundtrack for House of 1000 Corpses is no exception. From the spectacular tri-fold packaging and booklet to the film poster representation on the disc itself, this cd is Zombie from beginning to end - and that's nothing but a good thing. But let's get to the music.

Bunch of freaks House of 1000 Corpses is a Rob Zombie film. The "shock rocker" decided to direct it himself and proves that his filmmaking is even worse than his music. It is the story of two young couples who decide to go and look for Dr Satan after some clown in a gas station tells them that he used to be in the area.

Prior to her role in House of 1000 Corpses, Sheri had expressed an interest in doing cartoon voice overs, but took the role in House of 1000 Corpses instead. She provides the voice for the character of Susie X in the upcoming animated film The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, written and produced by her husband Rob Zombie.
The zombie genre is one not often utilized in studio productions, probably because of their noted problems with the MPAA board, and so there was promise in the storyline of "House of the Dead." Had director Uwe Boll concentrated on the realities of the horrific situation and the characters involved, he would have been off to a good start. Instead, he reaches for the lowest common denominator in filmmaking at every turn, going as far as using clips of the video game itself to act as scene transitions. It gets old very fast, as does its bullet-time sequences (a direct rip-off of "The Matrix") and frozen motion camera movements. And finally, if you were being chased by an endless gaggle of rotting zombies, would you (A) be freaking out and trying to stay alive, or (B) find it the appropriate time to strike up a romance? In the case of two different sets of characters, they inanely find the latter choice to be the sensible one.
