Hoosier Lottery: Tickets
built 607 days ago
Indiana Lottery Software Game List Three months after the creation of the first Commission, the Hoosier Lottery was in full operation. On October 13, 1989, instant, or scratch-off, ticket sales began at 12:10 p.m. On the first day alone, 8.19 million tickets were sold. By the following week, first week sales exceeded $21.8 million.
The Hoosier Lottery has admitted to overstating cash prizes in a statement on its Web site. The lottery attributes the problem to a mistake in printing by the lottery's scratch-off vendor that affected up to 2.5 million tickets, which amounted to about $25 million spent on the potentially defective tickets.
Hoosier Lottery executive director Kathryn Densborn says Indiana is a very lucky state. She says that aside from the winning ticket, a ticket matching five of the six numbers was sold in the northwestern Indiana city of Munster and it's worth $200,000.
