Blackman trained as an actress at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London after persuading her father that an appropriate birthday gift would be acting lessons. She married twice: Bill Sankey ( 1946 - 1956 ) and the British actor Maurice Kaufmann ( 1963 - 1975 ), (with whom she appeared in the film Fright ( 1971 ); they adopted two children (Barnaby and Lottie) but divorced in 1975 ). Following her early career as a glamorous leading lady, she returned to television in the ITV sitcom The Upper Hand during the 1990s.
Honor has been seen by television audiences as "Laura West" in six series of the highly successful comedy THE UPPER HAND. Other appearances in recent years have included the role of "Joy Adamson" in the feature film TO WALK WITH LIONS, as herself on THE ARMANDO IANUCCI SHOW, a guest lead in the BBC serial DOCTORS, "Margaret Smith" in THE SIGHT for Twentieth Century Fox, Penny Husband-Bosworth in BRIDGET JONES' DIARY for Working Title Films, Jewel in JACK AND THE BEANSTALK with Matthew Modine for CBS, the feature film JACK BROWN AND THE CURSE OF THE CROWN with Daniella Nardini and Owen Teale, and Van Eyre in Steve Coogan's DOCTOR TERRIBLE'S HOUSE OF HORRIBLE for Baby Cow/BBC. Honor has ... filmed THE ROYAL for YTV.

"Years later, aided by the goddess Hera (Honor Blackman), Jason (Todd Armstrong) begins a search for the Golden Fleece, which will finally instate him as rightful king. With a crew of brave men (including Hercules, in a fine performance by Nigel Green), he sets out on his glorious quest on his ship the Argo.
Upon graduation, her father once again influenced her career by suggesting that she audition as an understudy in a West End play, "The Guinea Pig". When the show's lead actress fell ill, Honor had her first "big break." This led to her first film appearance, a non-speaking part in "Fame is the Spur", wherein she was killed by a cavalryman--and she was nearly killed for real by a horse that stepped on her hair while she was lying on the ground.
