Honda is the industry leader in certifying vehicles to the Tier 2 standards. In 2002, Honda became the first manufacturer to offer gasoline-powered vehicles to the final Tier 2 requirements. In 2003, fully 50 percent of vehicles sold by Honda were certified to meet the tougher emission standards, two years ahead of the requirements and more than the rest of the industry combined. For 2004, Honda has certified more than 60 percent of its total vehicle fleet to the Tier 2 standards, compared to an industry average of 35 percent.

Honda was the first Japanese automaker to introduce a separate luxury line of vehicles. Created in 1986 and known as Acura, the line is made up of modified versions of Honda vehicles usually with more power and sportiness than their Honda counterparts. The very first model was the Acura Legend, with a 2.5 liter engine producing 151 horsepower (113 kW). European luxury-car manufacturers initially scoffed at the thought of a luxury company from Japan, with criticism coming mostly from Mercedes-Benz.

Prior to DataCore the IT infrastructure of the Honda Racing F1 Team was far from ideal. The IT team was routinely running out of disk space on some servers, and they were unable to re-allocate or use the spare capacity from other servers because each system was its own "island" of capacity. It was a scenario characterized by having to manually archive data to an unreliable, portable disk or having to delete data to keep services going. Moreover, backups were taking hours to run (in fact, over 24 hours in the worst cases) and this obviously negatively affected the working day. Worse still, sometimes backups had to be stopped before completion. Adding to this was the fact that older disk systems were delivering poor performance compared with what is now available.

Honda debuted in the American CART series as a works supplier in 1994. The engines were far from competitive at first, but after development, the company powered six consecutive drivers championships. In 2003 , Honda transferred its effort to the rival Indy Racing League series. In 2004, Honda-powered cars overwhelmingly dominated IRL, winning 14 of 16 IRL events, including the Indianapolis 500, and claimed the IRL Manufacturers' Championship, Drivers' Championship and Rookie of the Year titles. In 2006, Honda became the sole engine supplier for the IRL, including the Indianapolis 500. In the 2006 Indianapolis 500, for the first time in Indianapolis 500 history, the race was run without a single engine problem.[5]

Peter, Sorry the Honda can not be made plugin like the Prius. With Honda they only assist with the battery electric, it can't move without the gas engine like a Prius can.
