Since its introduction as a compact hatchback car in 1976, the Honda Accord has earned widespread acclaim as a leader in smart design, superb quality and world-class efficiency. In its 28-year history, the Accord has constantly re-invented itself, going from the original compact hatchback to today's mid-sized sedan and coupe. The seventh-generation Accord, released in 2003, once again raised the bar for performance, safety and value in its class with a highly efficient and powerful 3.0-liter, 240-horsepower VTEC V-6 engine, standard anti-lock brakes (ABS) and standard features such as tilt-telescoping steering, air conditioning, power windows, mirrors and door locks, and an AM/FM/CD stereo. In addition, the seventh-generation Accord was one of the first mid-sized sedans to bring luxury features such as a voice-activated navigation system, XM satellite radio and side curtain airbags to the premium mid-size segment.

Honda's power products unit sales totaled 1,258 thousand units, an increase of 6.0% from the same period in 2006. In Japan, unit sales totaled 141 thousand units, an increase of 11.0% from the same period in 2006. Overseas unit sales totaled 1,117 thousand units, an increase of 5.4% from the same period in 2006, due mainly to increased unit sales of lawnmowers in Europe, general-purpose engines in China, and increased unit sales in Asia and other regions, offsetting decreased unit sales of lawnmowers in the United States. Revenue from external customers in power product and other businesses increased by 1.0% to JPY 99.4 billion (USD 862 million) from the same period in 2006, due mainly to the increased unit sales of power products and the positive impact of the currency translation effects. Operating income decreased 6.5% to JPY 6.9 billion (USD 60 million) from the same period in 2006. This was primarily due to the increased R&D expenses, offsetting the positive impact of the decreased SG&A expenses and the currency effects caused by the depreciation of the Japanese yen.

Working with technology partner, Plug Power, Inc., Honda began operation of a Home Energy Station in October 2003. Home Energy Station IV represents the latest evolution of the technology with a 70 percent reduction in size compared to the first unit, making it even more suitable for household installation. By combining gas purification and power generation components, overall size reduction and efficiency gains are achieved, while enabling it to switch from hydrogen refining to power generation when needed.

In 2003, Honda released its Cog advertisement in the UK and on the Internet.
