In another first, a boat for homosexual teenagers ... sailed. Mayor Job Cohen initially refused a permit, arguing that underage participants were inappropriate. In the end a compromise was struck and parents accompanied their gay teens.

It was suggested that, in synagogues with programs for special constituencies, such programs might be created for homosexual Jews. Information regarding support groups, such as PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) could be disseminated by the synagogue, and the synagogue might host such groups. At present, such a group does not exist in London, but a well-motivated Synagogue group could help in forming such a necessary organization.

The New Jersey Supreme Court had ruled unanimously the Boy Scouts must reinstate James Dale, a homosexual assistant Scoutmaster. The Scouts removed Dale, a former Eagle Scout, from his position when a newspaper reported on a speech he gave at a 1990 seminar for homosexual teenagers. Dale was co-president of the Lesbian/Gay Alliance at Rutgers University at the time.

In a blatant violation of journalistic ethics, Time magazine assigned a homosexual reporter, John Cloud, to write the recent Time cover story on homosexual teenagers but did not disclose his conflict of interest to its readers. The story, The Battle Over Gay Teens, was the cover story in the October 10 issue.

It is important for everyone to realise that there is no such thing as gay youth; there are no homosexual teenagers. Even for those who succumb to their inner demons and experiment with or engage in homosexual practices there is hope. The young who stray from the straight and narrow can be reformed, the same way souls can be saved.
