Homeopathy: Medicines
built 656 days ago
Homeopathy is a very natural approach to medicine. Homeopathy medicine is based on the natural law that ‘like cures like’. This means the very substance that is causing your illness will be used as a cure, but the substance is administered in extremely low doses. Homeopathic medicine is not toxic and not addictive, as is the case with some conventional medications.
Homeopathy is a holistic medicine; in other words it aims to treat the whole person. It may seem unusual to those used to allopathic (conventional) medicine, where one medicine is taken for a skin complaint, another for a headache, and yet another for sleeplessness.
Homeopathy uses medicines in a way totally different than conventional therapy. Western medicines increase their effect when the concentration is increased. The "stronger" the dose, the greater the effect. Conventional medicine pushes the dose to the point of weighing the side-effects to the benefits. And there are always side-effects in Western medicine. But homeopathic medicines are effective in concentrations as dilute as a million to one.
Homeopathy is extremely effective in treatment of acute illness or chronic diseases. This includes any long-term physical or emotional problems, as well as illnesses which return time and time again. Whether conventional medicine considers the condition curable or not is not the major factor in determining whether homeopathy can help. Homeopathy is ... appropriate for those who have problems that bother them, even though no disease has been diagnosed.
Homeopathy as a therapy became known in Armenia in the 90s of the 20th century, due to charity activities of a Swiss Armenian Haritun Kurtcuoglu. In the autumn 1993 he invited two experts of the traditional medicine to Armenia - homeopath Sabine Zimmermann and reflex therapist Hanne Marquardt. This invitation was one of the first steps within the aid project to Armenia, the realization of which Haritun has started since 1992.

Interestingly, there are a few lonely scientists who do believe in Homeopathy as Science. Not as medicine, but based on real scientific principles. The distinction may seem subtle, but it's important. There are many 'alternative' therapies that are not based on (western?) science (herbal medicines, acupuncture, crystal healing) yet can have a noticable effect. Whether this is a placebo effect or a real one is unimportant - if you get better, it's a useful technique.
