Centex Real Estate Corp., a subsidiary of Centex Corp., has completed its acquisition of the home building company, Calton Homes. Centex paid $48.1 million for the firm's stock. Under terms of the deal, it ... agreed to a $5.2 million holdback, a bank debt of approximately $20.5 million, and other post closing contingencies. In return, Calton has agreed to offer consulting services to Centex Homes for $1.3 million annually. One of the country's largest single-family home builders, Centex Homes expects that this most recent purchase will significantly broaden its presence in New Jersey. Currently, Centex Homes maintains operations in 54 major markets in 20 states.
