The LARGE FRAME .22 SNAP-DOWN HOLSTER is extraordinary for the number of different gunsit will pack. Here it carries a large frame .22 revolver by Smith and Wesson. The gun has a 5" barrel, and takes a .22 long rifle round. The following two images show the same holster packing a Magnum .357 and a Ruger .45. This holster will ... take many semi and fully automatic guns, with barrel lengths 5" and under. The snap-down hammer strap has three locations for the brass snap closure, to secure whatever gun is being used.

Concealment holsters are designed to be worn under clothing (such as on the belt under a coat, under pants in an ankle holster, or in a trouser pocket). Protecting the handgun from the user's perspiration is often an important consideration in such carry locations. Since the holster is held close to the body, comfort becomes important too, and concealment holsters often have broad surfaces in contact with the user's body, to distribute the pressure across a wider area and prevent abrasion of the skin. Often the external side of the holster is ... broader, to help break up the outline of the handgun and prevent printing, where the outline of the gun can be seen through tight clothing. For pocket holsters, the external flat side is often the side with a nap, or rougher surface, to provide better retention when drawing the pistol.

It is most important that the holster secure the gun. You can find lots of "holsters" out there that will hold a gun, after a fashion. But start to do simple, everyday things like bending and stretching and lifting and sitting, and the ability of the bargain-bin holster to keep your firearm where it's supposed to be becomes suspect.

The “small of the back” holster has some problems. The draw is dicey and kind of difficult. There is a danger of sweeping the muzzle of the gun in directions you don’t intend to cover. This is an easy holster to disarm. Someone can come up behind you and grab the pistol, and due to its position on your back, it is very difficult to stop them from taking it. Lastly, should you fall on your back, the small of the back holster is a steel bar across your spine that could accentuate the impact of hitting the ground and perhaps hurt you worse. The leg holster is only really valid as a backup option and it’s not really great as a backup.

After you receive your holster it's important to "shape" the holster to your gun. Soak the holster in a bucket of warm water for about 3 seconds then place your well oiled gun in a bread bag and insert in holster. Now using your thumbs work the leather around and over your gun pressing firmly into all bumps and valleys. The more you work it the better it will look. Then remove your gun and bread bag and allow to dry thoroughly about 24 to 48 hours. DO NOT dry the holster with the gun in it. A light oiling on the inside and outside may be necessary if the leather is a little on the dry side.
