Mercury, the Winged Messenger, brings a new kind of energy, not of conflict but, as Holst wrote, a "symbol of the mind." The scherzo-like movement abounds in polyrhythms, some instruments playing in 6/8 while others are in 2/4. The bitonal scale alternates between E and B-flat, adding energy and thrust.

Holst said 19 campground reservations for 44 nights in the park had been canceled, and those who booked to stay at the park will receive full refunds. The park will not accept new reservations until it becomes clear when it can reopen.

From the New York Times comes more info about the "new" Pluto addition to the Planets Suite from Holst: Pluto, Paradoxically, Joins ‘The Planets’ - New York Times - Sept.8.06. It isn't known if Holst would approve of a dwarf planet in his collection.
