Established in 1952, Holiday Inn is one of the world's most recognized hotel brands with more than 400,000 rooms (3,125 hotels) open and a development pipeline of more than 110,000 rooms (942 hotels). This development pipeline continues to grow rapidly, with more than 16,000 rooms signed in the third quarter of 2007, a 6% increase on Q3 2006.
WILLIAMSBURG, Va., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MHI Hospitality Corporation (Amex: MDH) announced today that the Holiday Inn Laurel West has received the 2007 Renovation Award from InterContinental Hotels Group [LON: IHG; NYSE: IHG (ADRs)]. The Company's Laurel, Maryland asset was awarded for having successfully completed major modernization and renovation programs during the past year in order to enhance guest experience.

Great Sign On October 24, 2007, Holiday Inn Hotels the InterContinental Hotels Group, and Richard Childress Racing announced a muti-year agreement to sponsor the #29 RCR Chevy in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Drivers Jeff Burton and Scott Wimmer will share the ride with Scott driving 23 races and Jeff driving the rest of the 35 race schedule.
All Holiday Inn hotels will be required to implement the relaunch program to create a more contemporary brand image, increase quality and drive consistency. The program includes a new service promise, a redesigned welcome experience, a refreshed guest room and redesigned brand signage that will be installed at hotels once all criteria have been met. Holiday Inn hotels currently open or under development are expected to have implemented the relaunch program by the end of 2010, with the first due to open in spring 2008 in the United States.
The Holiday Inn Laurel West was honored at the 2007 IHG Americas Investors & Leadership Conference, October 22-24, 2007, in Dallas. The property was one of 45 hotels nationwide to receive the award.

Holiday Inn Hotel in Toronto, Ontario, Canada The original Holiday Inn chain of hotels was founded in 1952 in Memphis, Tennessee, by homebuilder Kemmons Wilson to provide inexpensive family accommodation for travelers within the USA. Wilson opened the first Holiday Inn in September 1952 at 4941 Summer Avenue in the Berclair district of Memphis on the main road to and from Nashville. In 1954, Wilson incorporated the chain with Wallace E. Johnson.
