Family Gifts: -- Seventy percent of respondents said they plan to buy a gift for the entire family this holiday. -- Of those, the majority (74%) chose home electronics as the favorite family gift, beating a family trip (15%), appliances (10%), and a new car (1.4%). -- Favored tech gifts include: digital camera or camcorder (30%), new TV (23%), CDs/DVDs (21%), and a home theater system (17%). Growth of Internet shopping: -- Almost 80 percent said they will make at least some of their holiday purchases online. -- Of those, most (59%) cited the convenience of shopping from home as their favorite reason to shop online. -- When shopping for consumer electronics, 49 percent said they rely most on Internet research over advice from friends (17%) or advertising (14%).

The Hobbies/Lifestyles - Food category was another beneficiary of holiday- related traffic last month. In November, 29 million Americans visited a Food category site to research Thanksgiving recipes and plan family meals. Overall, the category grew 8.2 percent, with nine of the top-ten sites attracting more visitors in November than in October. Conversely, as consumers turned their focus from their waistline to food and family, the only property among the top ten Food category sites to decline from October to November was Weight Watchers International.
