    Rehabarama 2001 - South Park Historic District hosted a very successfull "Rehabarama". In a partnership with Citywide Development and the Home Builders Association of Dayton, five historic homes were renovated and three new infill houses were constructed. Roughly 9,000 people attended the home show. Every property was sold to an owner-occupant. Today, each home has been personalized by the new homeowner, and many of the residents have become active volunteers in the neighborhood.

    On July 1, Historic South End merged operations with Charlotte Center City Partners. For almost half a century (1837-1882) this was the home of one of the world's foremost poets, scholars and educators, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.     Kalaupapa National Historical Park, established in 1980, preserves the physical settings for these stories. Within its boundaries are the historic Hansen's disease settlements of Kalaupapa and Kalawao. The community of Kalaupapa, on the leeward side of Kalaupapa Peninsula, is still home for many surviving Hansen's disease patients, whose memories and experiences are cherished.
