1. Historic South
   Rehabarama 2001 - South Park Historic District hosted a very successfull "Rehabarama". In a partnership with Citywide Development and the Home Builders Association of Dayton, five historic homes were renovated and three new infill houses were constructed. Roughly 9,000 people attended the home show. Every property was sold to an owner-occupant. Today, each home has been personalized by the new homeowner, and many of the residents have become active volunteers in the neighborhood.
2. Historical Geography
   Historical Geography is an annual journal that publishes scholarly articles, book reviews, conference reports, and commentaries. The journal encourages an interdisciplinary and international dialogue among scholars, professionals, and students interested in geographic perspectives on the past. Concerned with maintaining historical geography's ongoing intellectual contribution to social scientific and humanities-based disciplines, Historical Geography is especially committed to presenting the work of emerging scholars.
3. Historical Jesus
   The Historical Jesus is the "actual" ancient person, but is only accessible to the extent that later people can reasonably and reliably describe him. The quest to attempt to use scientific principles to reconstruct a verifiable biography of Jesus has progressed for more than two centuries, and the Quest is often conceived of as having several phases:
4. Historic South -- Historic South End
   On July 1, Historic South End merged operations with Charlotte Center City Partners. The district still operates as a distinct neighborhood and tax district, but Charlotte Center City Partners (CCCP) now manages the contract through the city. Two members of the previous HSE Board have joined the CCCP Board: Gaines Brown and John Stamas. Former board member Rick Thurmond is serving on The Charlotte Shout board through CCCP.
5. Valley Forge National Historical Park -- Pennsylvania Historical
   This year, the National Society will contribute funds towards the restoration of the Spring House at Washington’s Headquarters in Valley Forge National Historical Park located in Pennsylvania. There are four main tasks: to re-roof the structure, install proper ventilation to help take care of water damage and solve problems concerning it, repairing the bedding and pointing mortar, and any other conditions that may appear.
6. Historical Jesus -- Quests
   This started in the 1980's, became a major area of theological and historical study, and continues today. The Jesus Seminar and other academic organizations have been created to further the Quest. The Third Quest has a number of novel features:
7. Longfellow National Historic Site
   Longfellow National Historic Site is an outstanding example of a historic site representing the themes of arts and literature. For almost half a century (1837-1882) this was the home of one of the world's foremost poets, scholars and educators, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Longfellow House is ... significant in America's colonial history. General George Washington, Commander-in-Chief of the newly-formed Continental Army, headquartered and planned the Siege of Boston here between July, 1775 and April, 1776.
8. Kalaupapa National Historical Park
   Kalaupapa National Historical Park, established in 1980, preserves the physical settings for these stories. Within its boundaries are the historic Hansen's disease settlements of Kalaupapa and Kalawao. The community of Kalaupapa, on the leeward side of Kalaupapa Peninsula, is still home for many surviving Hansen's disease patients, whose memories and experiences are cherished. In Kalawao on the windward side of the peninsula are the churches of Siloama, established in 1866, and Saint Philomena, associated with the work of Father Damien (Joseph De Veuster).
9. Historical Jesus -- Writings
   Both the church and academia have gotten along successfully without the historical Jesus for centuries. The historical Jesus, the human being who walked the roads of ancient Israel, gathered disciples, and was executed by the Romans, is often contrasted with the "Christ of faith," a supra-historical figure whose presence in the world enlivens and nourishes Christian communities. The latter has always been far more important for most Christians.
10. John Clements -- Historical Fencing
    John Clements is a leading authority on historical fencing and one of the world’s foremost practitioner-instructors of Medieval and Renaissance fighting methods. As a long-time Western martial artist who has been studying historical fencing since 1980, John is the most prolific writer on historical fencing active today. He has practiced cut & thrust swordsmanship and rapier fighting for more than eighteen years, researched swords and arms in 10 countries and taught classes and seminars on the subject in 10 countries. From 1997 to 2004 he taught public classes and private lessons in Houston, Texas.
