Hilary Lunke: Lpga Tour
built 816 days ago
Hilary Lunke, now in her fifth year on the LPGA tour, often uses the Club?s facilities to stay sharp in between tournaments. And when not working on her own game, she generously takes time out of her schedule to take part in Twin Creek?s highly popular Chix with Stix program, helping female golfers of all ages improve their skills.

Hilary Lunke barely made it through qualifying for the U.S. Women's Open, shooting 80 in the first round of sectionals. In 26 starts on the LPGA, she had never finished better than 15th.

Lunke, by the way, still plays on tour, although the Women's Open win remains the lone top-10 finish of her career. She has especially struggled the last two years, making just four cuts in 20 starts in 2006 and two cuts in 10 starts this year. But Lunke has something bigger to look forward to. She and her husband, Tylar -- who served as her caddie at Pumpkin Ridge -- are expecting their first child in November.
Lunke will play the 2006 LPGA season while displaying the Twin Creeks logo on her golf bag. This includes her stops at the sport’s four major events – the Kraft Nabisco Championship, LPGA Championship, Women’s British Open and the U.S. Women’s Open. In 2003, Lunke made history by winning the U.S. Women’s Open in an 18-hole playoff victory, becoming one of only 14 players in LPGA history to make the U.S. Women’s Open her first LPGA victory.
[A]lready, Lunke has something in common with fellow Samsung World Championship qualifier Sorenstam. Lunke became the first player since Sorenstam in 1995 to make her first LPGA victory the U.S. Women's Open. At 24, she ... became the youngest American to win a major championship since 1987.

Not only was this Lunke's first major title, it was her first victory on the LPGA Tour. She became the 26th player to make win No. 1 a major and the first since Se Ri Pak took home the LPGA Championship in 1998.
