Duff recorded new songs for the soundtrack of her film Material Girls, including a Timbaland-produced cover version of Madonna’s “Material Girl” with her sister. Her next single, “Play with Fire”, will be released to radio on August 21 and precedes her next studio album, which will be released on November 21, 2006 via Hollywood Records according to MTV’s TRL. She has said in an interview that the album is like nothing she has ever done before.

Lizzie spawned a movie spin-off that launched Duff's big-screen career, and as a pop singer, she released three platinum albums, two of which topped the Billboard charts. But it was a reported feud with Lohan over pop star Aaron Carter that had the tabloids buzzing. Although Duff eventually moved on and found happiness with rocker Joel Madden from Good Charlotte, it ended in late 2006 after nearly two and a half years.
