The weekly "Thursday Night Football" schedule of 10 live telecasts on Comcast SportsNet in association with the CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) will feature prominent high school football programs throughout Northern and Central California. Former Superior Senior High School and Nebraska Cornhusker star, QB Bruce Mathison, will be coming home for his 3oth reunion. In conjunction with this, Mathison will run a Passing Camp for Superior Senior High School players, along with Head Coach Bob Demeyer. Mathison then will provide the ceremonial coin flip for the Superior Stampede versus Iowa Threshers football game and speak to the Stampede prior to kickoff. Mathison was a 10th round (#272) draft choice of the San Diego Chargers. He ... played for the Buffalo Bills and the Seattle Seahawks. The day has been proclaimed "Superior Stampede Football Day" by Superior Mayor David Ross.

A student at Northampton Area High School is the latest person in the area to test positive for MRSA. But the bug is not only a concern for schools in the Lehigh Valley. WFMZ's Bo Koltnow reports. The infection is not only putting schools, hospital and gyms on high alert but the Lehigh County prison as well. Not much to see walking into a jail cell. But what's not seen is the cause for concern.

Football dominates high school sports in Texas, which has more participants than any other state. Seventy-four schools have stadiums seating more than 10,000. The sport provides 22,041 full-time jobs and generates $2.88 billion in annual spending, said Ray Perryman, president of Perryman Group, a Waco economic and financial analysis firm.
