The study of Hieroglyphics has been an ongoing fascination by Egyptologists for literally centuries. The discovery of the Rosetta stone in 1799 provided an incredible breakthrough in understanding these Phonetic and Ideographic (pictorial) symbols. Interpretation provided in the accompanying manuals represents an assembly of the most popular transcriptions of Sir Alan Gardiner and E.A. Wallis Budge.

The success of the Hieroglyphics Imperium label has enabled them to branch out beyond their own work to expand their musical legacy. In 2002 Hiero released one of Hip-Hop?s first CD/DVD hybrids, One Big Trip, which included a soundtrack on one side of the disc and a movie on the other. Artists within the collective ... have collaborated with the likes of Dilated Peoples, Q-Tip, Xzibit, George Clinton, Jurassic 5, and Dan the Automator (Deltron 3030). The most notable of these collaborations was Del the Funky Homosapien?s lead vocal performance on "Clint Eastwood", the smash single off of the multi-platinum selling album from the Gorillaz.

For the last three years, Hieroglyphics have released various albums (tapes only) to the underground scene. These became widely available through their web page (www.hieroglyphics.com) to the worldwide fan following who still wanted to hear the Hiero sound. Hiero Oldies presented songs that were never released for various reasons, such as "Cab Fare," which samples the theme music from the '70s show Taxi. Hiero B-Sides offers all the bonus songs and remixes that were available exclusively on 12" versions of singles. Del released Future Development, his long awaited return, to the hip hop scene. And Casual put out Meanwhile, which is a compilation of various songs he's done over the years.
