The Hickory Crawdads are a Minor League Baseball team in Hickory, North Carolina, USA. They are a Class A team in the South Atlantic League, and have been a farm team of the Pittsburgh Pirates since 1999. Previously, they were a Class A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox). The Crawdads play home games at L.P. Frans Stadium. Opened in 1993, Frans Stadium seats 5,092 fans.

The annual Appalachian Night at the Hickory Crawdads is Friday, June 22, at LP Frans Stadium. The Crawdads will play Greenville, with fireworks after the game. Tickets are $14, which includes all-you-can-eat picnic and game ticket.

The Hickory Crawdads began the second half of their 2007 season by splitting a four-game series with Greenville. Jared Hughes gave up 2 runs to lead off the game, but the Crawdads responded in the bottom of the 1st inning with a solo homer by Alex Presley and a 2-run homer by Bobby Kingsbury, giving Hughes the lead. The bottom fell out after that. Greenville scored 9 unanswered runs, including a 4-run inning and a 3-run inning, as Hughes gave up 7 runs on 8 hits to take his 5th loss of the season. Jared Keel and Jim Negrych each homered and Kris Watts went 4-for-4 to lead the Crawdads’ offense as they came back to beat Greenville in the second game of the series, 8-5. Reliever Charles Benoit picked up his 5th win of the season by pitching two perfect innings.

The Hickory Crawdads announce that Gary Green will return to Hickory for his second season as field manager of the Crawdads. While Green will be back, the Crawdads have new coaches. Jeff Johnson is the new pitching coach. Rudy Pena takes over as the club’s hitting coach.
