Heracles: Kings
built 628 days ago
Returning to Greece, Heracles attacked Augeias, the king of Elis, with his army from Tiryns. Earlier, Augeias had refused to honour his agreement and pay the promised fee to the hero, during Heracles' fifth labour, so the hero had vowed to capture Elis. See the Fifth Labour of Heracles.

Heracles 1, they say, came to Crete and asked Minos 2 for help, whereupon the king retorted that Heracles 1 could as well fight and catch the bull himself. But others say that Minos 2 did help him.

Later, during the Isthmian games, Heracles ambushed and killed the Moliones. Augeias could not defend his kingdom on the second invasion, when Heracles raised a new army in Arcadia, possibly killing the king.
