Heracles: Heracles 1
built 656 days ago
Later in Thebes, Heracles married King Creon's daughter, Megara. However, Hera drove Heracles into a fit of madness during which he killed his wife and children. Upon realizing what he had done, he fled to the Oracle of Delphi. Unbeknownst to him, the Oracle was guided by Hera. He was directed to serve King Eurystheus for 12 years and perform any task which he required, resulting in the Twelve Labours of Hercules.
The greatest Greek hero Heracles should be to accomplish 12 exploits. Tenth one of them is to obtain sacral cows of giant Geryon, who lived on the remote West. This Geryon consisted of three man’s bodies. But Heracles has defeated giant and two-headed dog Orth by means bow.
When Heracles 1 was about to be born, Zeus declared that a descendant of Perseus 1, then about to be born, would be king of Mycenae. But Hera, out of jealousy, persuaded Ilithyia, goddess of childbirth, to retard Alcmena's delivery, and contrived that Eurystheus... a descendant of Perseus 1, should be born a seven-month child. This is how Heracles 1 lost the throne of Mycenae.
The first of Heracles' labors was killing the Nemean lion. Below is an Attic black figure neck amphora, 510-500 BCE, Mississippi 1977.3.62. Athena is on the left; Hermes is on the right.
Heracles were once a major force in Dutch football, but their role in 'modern' Dutch footballwas (and still is)amodest one. Heracles' current spell in the Eredivisie is only their third since the start of the professional Eredivisie in 1956, and they will hope that they can stay up a bit longer than the previous two times: they lasted four seasonsfrom 1962 to 1966,and then there was a single season in1985-1986. The only thing that eased the painduring thatbrief, catastrophicEredivisiecampaignof the mid-80s was a spectacular 0-3 away win in Enschede,againstarch-enemies and 'next door neighbours' FC Twente.

Heracles 1 refused to take Psophis 3 to his home, though he had intercourse with her. Some say the city Psophis in Arcadia was named after her by Echephron 3 who changed the name of the city Phegia (the old Erymanthus) to Psophis, the name of his mother. Psophis 3 was daughter of Eryx 3, a despot in Sicania (Sicily).
