Henry Samueli: Broadcom Corporation

Samueli received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1975, 1976, and 1980 respectively. In 1985, after working for five years as an engineer at TRW Electronic Systems Group, he joined the faculty at UCLA as a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering. He co-founded Broadcom Corp. in 1991 and serves as chief technology officer of the company.

Samueli has made a name for himself in other arenas beyond Broadcom. In December 2003, he and his wife Susan purchased the management contract for Honda Center (formerly Anaheim's Arrowhead Pond) sports and entertainment venue. A year-and-a-half later, they purchased the Anaheim Ducks hockey team.

Through it all, Samueli has remained at the core of the company's operations. His official title at Broadcom is chief technical officer—the technology guru. In practice, he is the Wizard of Oz- like master responsible for pulling the right levers and pushing for the best product that will keep the company ahead of the competition.
