Henry Hudson: England
built 267 days ago
There were most likely no humans living there when Hudson arrived in 1607 on his first voyage of discovery, although the Vikings wrote about the islands in ancient Icelandic texts. Hudson got stuck in the ice and turned back to England, but his failure was followed almost immediately by a frenetic whaling boom that all but wiped out the whales and walruses that had populated the surrounding waters.
Little is known about Henry Hudson’s life before 1607. Nobody knows when Hudson was born, but most historians suggest that is was around September 12, 1570. Most people guess that he was born in Hartfordshire, England. He believed to have had seven other brothers. He and his wife, Katherine, had three sons: Richard, John, and Oliver. They were believed to have lived in a three-story brick house near London Tower.
Having become bored with playing Pharaoh on a primitive planet, Hudson attempted to take some Wookies back to good old England to use as slave labor. Such a discovery would gain him instant celebrity status, enormous wealth, and a ticket into Queen Elizabeth's bedchamber (Hudson always had a thing for older women). However, the mystical amulet proved impossible to control, and Hudson was transported to ancient Egypt in about 3100 BC.
Hudson’s job then was to find a northern waterway route from England to Asia. It was widely assumed at that time that Asia could actually be reached by sailing north, although geographers were not sure of the exact route, and whether Hudson should veer northeast, northwest, or due north.

His greatest goal achieved, Hudson tried once more to teleport back to good old England. This time he would end up on Tatooine in the same Galaxy as the Wookie homeworld, and, mistaken for a wanted man, was captured by Boba Fett and taken to Jabba the Hutt. With his slick English accent, Hudson convinced Jabba that the Wookie race made good workers, and it was these enslaved laborers that build Jabba's grandiose palace.
One of these, the Muscovy Company of England, engaged Hudson in 1607 to lead an expedition in search of a northeast passage. The venture was blocked by ice and strong winds; a second attempt the following year encountered the same conditions.
