Henry Hillman: Carnegie Museum
built 262 days ago
Wide-eyed kids and bedazzled adults have been leaving fingerprints on Hillman Hall’s glass cases for more than 25 years now. And that’s a beautiful thing, says Marc Wilson, the collection manager and head of Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s section of minerals, because it shows just how much they’re enjoying the hall’s eye-popping collection of 1,300-plus gems and minerals.
Dr. Marchicelli will discuss the exhibition and the careers of Morris, Hillman and Ben Tré at a lecture in the Museum gallery on Wednesday, October 20, 2004. The program will begin with a brief tour of the exhibition, and Dr. Marchicelli will be available to answer questions following the program. The lecture is open to the public free of charge, and begins at 2 p.m. Please call the Museum for more information.

The chance encounter led to Mr. Hillman to fund a new exhibit hall at Carnegie Museum of Natural History. But only under one condition: the exhibits in the hall "present minerals in the manner of sculpture, shown for their beauty as well as their physical properties and economic uses."
