The royal Henry Fonda Theatre, which was first opened in 1926, frequently played host to silver screen myths like Marlene Dietrich and Clark Gable. Extensive renewals have evoked the luster of the venue's art decoration and design and decor in an effort to return it to its exciting past. When the theater was reopened in late 2002, it has hosted everything including classic burlesque acts to indie singer-songwriter Elliott Smith. On October 1926, the theatre first opened its doors as the Carter DeHaven Music Box Theatre as a place where actors like Fannie Brice showed in elaborate musical revues designed to rival the Ziegfield Follies. Upstairs, above the theatre in this good-looking Spanish Colonial style building, theatre-goers could enjoy dancing and floor show acts after the show. However, within a year revues were restored by reasonable stage shows like Chicago with Clark Gable and Dracula with Bela Lugosi, which matched with a burgeoning of live theatre across the city.

The Henry Fonda theatre hollywood, which has been unfilled since it played host to "Tony & Tina's Wedding" last year, has long been in need of a change. When Smith went through the theater, he found the once stylish rooftop garden had been filled by pigeons, the theatre walls were cracking and mirrors were broken. He and his team are now working cautiously to return the Henry Fonda theatre to its previous grandeur.
