Henry Fok, one of the richest men in the world, singled out Arnold 'Arnie' Palmer, one of the game's greatest exponents, to design the first golf course in post-Revolutionary China. The product of their union was Chung Shan Hot Spring Golf Club, near Chungshan City in Guangdong Province, which officially opened 21 years ago.

With the help of his advisor, Mr. Ming Sze Ho, Dr. Fok founded the Calgary Canadian and Chinese Education Foundation in 1996 to promote understanding between the peoples of China and Canada. Over the last 10 years, he has generously supported the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre, the Chinese Christian Wing Kei Care Centre, Calgary Chinese Elderly Citizens' Association , as well as a number of China-Canada educational exchanges at U of C.

According to a recent biography entitled "Li Ka Shing," the billionaire formed a partnership with two leading members of the Asian Triad organized crime families, Robert Kwok and Henry Fok, to form the China International Trust Investment Company (CITIC). A Rand Corporation report on CITIC noted that the Beijing-based investment firm had acted as a front for Poly Technologies Inc., an arms manufacturer owned directly by the Chinese army.
