Bell Helicopter is the launch customer for the Ascent(R) training equipments for helicopter. They have placed an order for a Bell 412EP convertible to Huey II Ascent(R) Flight Training Device (FTD) using synthetic display technology. This FTD is to be qualified as a level 5 FTD under the FAA regulations. The device will be used by Bell Helicopter for entry level pilots for cockpit familiarization, and to introduce Rotary Wing aircraft handling skills at the initial stages of training.

The Model 30 was developed into the Bell 47, which became the first aircraft certificated for civilian use in the United States. DENVER, Jan. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Air Methods Corporation (Nasdaq: AIRM) announced today that it has been chosen by AgustaWestland, Inc. to develop the multimission aeromedical interior for the US101 helicopter. Team US101, comprised of Lockheed Martin (prime contractor and systems integration), AgustaWestland (aircraft design) and Bell Helicopter (aircraft production), with General Electric supplying each helicopter with three CT7-8 engines, is offering the U.S. Air Force the US101 helicopter to meet its Combat Search and Rescue Replacement (CSAR-X) program needs. Lockheed Martin Systems Integration-Owego leads Team US101 and is responsible for overall program management and final aircraft delivery to the Air Force. CSAR-X is a U.S. Air Force initiative to procure more capable and survivable aircraft able to recover isolated personnel from hostile or denied territory. The three-engine US101 is the leading contender in the CSAR-X competition, with a large, flexible cabin and proven combat search and rescue performance. The Air Force intends to purchase 141 CSAR-X aircraft to replace its aging fleet of 102 HH-60G helicopters.

After the Texas Air Command Museum agreed to donate the Huey 091 to the National Museum of American History, a group of Vietnam veterans and other volunteers, formed the 091 Committee to facilitate the helicopter's transfer. The helicopter's month-long, cross-country delivery, billed as the Huey's "Final Journey Home," is an educational endeavor of the 091 Committee. Through the support of DynCorp, a CSC company, AMR/American Airlines, U.S. Helicopter, Novogratz Family Foundation, Bell Helicopter and the Allied Pilots Association, the 091 Committee raised the necessary funds to take the Huey 091 on a national tour that will end with its landing at the museum.
