The dying-out process Blavatsky predicted would take another thousand years. The karmic necessity that Blavatsky talked about was that souls wishing to be born were choosing other races for karmic reasons, and not that indigenous peoples currently alive ought to die. Staudenmaier has treated Blavatsky with the same lack of scholarly care and accuracy that he brings to this study of Steiner.

One of the peculiarities of Blavatsky is that she will subscribe to and quote scientists and philosophers that serve her objective, and discount all those that do not. She does not make a case based on fact, but builds a case and looks for facts to support her opinions and conclusions. She is blatantly described as a charlatan by her contemporaries and was even bluntly turned down by members of occult societies as being undisciplined and radical.

Blavatsky und Roerich stellten Shambhala als einem wohlwollendes Land dar, das bei der Schaffung des Weltfriedens helfen wird. Im Gegensatz hierzu betonten alternative Versionen den apokalyptischen Aspekt der Legende. Sie assoziierten Shambhala hauptsächlich mit den zerstörerischen Kräften der Regeneration, die die alten, überholten Denkweisen beseitigen und eine neue Weltordnung des Friedens etablieren würden. So ist die zerstörerische Kraft Shambhalas letztlich positiv. Diese Versionen hatten ihre Wurzeln ebenfalls in der Theosophie.
