Hedonism is any theory that gives pleasure a central role. The simplest form of hedonism in ethics is "whatever causes pleasure is right". Even that simple version immediately runs into trouble. Pleasure for whom? Average pleasure? Is that the median or the mean? How can you make interpersonal comparisons of pleasure, anyway?

Hedonism is one of the world's oldest actively followed belief systems. Although there is no certainty about the origins of this belief system, it is believed to have been started by the great Hedonist Shaman Bill Gates in the 3rd Century. The followers of Hedonism (hedonists) live very simple lifestyles, there are few rules related to it, given that a person's lifestyle fits the following creed:

In Hedonism, people think that what makes them happy is good. Also things that avoid pain are good. Hedonism talks about pleasure. There are different beliefs in hedonism. Some people believe it is important to get as many pleasurable experiences as possible, others believe that the quality of the pleasure matters. They think there are higher and lower pleasures.

In addition to all inclusive water and land sports, Hedonism II offers a circus workshop, themed parties and Reggae dance classes. Daily and nightly activities are on the wild side and are not for the faint of heart. Theme nights abound and the disco rocks till the wee hours of the morning.

For more than a decade, thousands of S.D. clubgoers have spent Thursday nights standing in line to get into Hedonism. On Oct. 24, the megaclub celebrated its last night. Look for new club-night Electroluxe to take its place on Nov. 7.

Even members of the party-'til-you-drop crowd eventually head back to their rooms, which at Hedonism are comfortable but not luxurious. Twin and king size beds are available. Rooms do not have balconies or porches, although some rooms face the beach. In keeping with the adult atmosphere, there is one special feature in the rooms: mirrored ceilings above every bed.
