Hebrew is one of the longest continuously recorded languages that has survived to the modern day. It first appeared around the late 11th or early 10th century BCE in the form of the Gezer calendar. While the script on this inscription is called Old Hebrew, it is barely discernible from Phoenician from where it originated. - Hebrew Numerals
Virtually every reference to the "beast" in the Hebrew Old Testament is a multiple of 616 and appears throughout the New Testament in connection with related topics (e.g. the Greek for "deceived", "the harlot", "evil", "wickedness", is 616 or a multiple thereof). The idea that 666 is the "number of the beast" could well be a myth, therefore, unless both numbers are appropriate. Since Nero in Hebrew adds up to 666, the appearance of this number may well be accounted for in the later manuscripts as Christians sought to identify this antichrist with the end-time Beast.. - Hebrew -- Meanings
Hebrew is spoken by about 5 million people in Israel. In addition, it is spoken by several hundred thousand speakers in the Palestinian territories and expatriot Jewish communities around the world (Ethnologue). - Hebrew Alphabet
The Hebrew Alphabet is of no random order. Central to the 22 letter alphabet are two sets of letters. These letter sets make up the words 'Israel' and 'Zion.' This link is an overview of the highlights of the research in an 'easy to understand' format. - Hebrew Numerals -- Letters
The system of numerals in Hebrew forms a quasi-decimal alphabetic numeral system using the letters of the Hebrew alphabet. In Hebrew notation, there is no notation for zero, and the numeric values for individual letters are added together. Each unit (1, 2, ..., 9) is assigned a separate letter, each tens (10, 20, ..., 90) a separate letter, and the hundreds 100, 200, 300, 400 a separate letter. This double meaning of letters gave rise to the gematria 1 in which these transformations are extensively used (cf. ... Wortrechnung - Hebrew Numerals -- Ashkenazic Jews
In the Tanakh, the holy Hebrew bible, ha-Satan (=the Satan) is an angel whom God uses to test man for various reasons usually dealing with his level of piety. The Satan is good, known as the figure in the book of Job who challenged the integrity of Job. In Judaism ha-Satan is the angel-accuser, a prosecuting attorney or adversary, the spiritual force alias the evil inclination, and he is totally under the command and control of God, as any other angel is. Therefore ha-Satan is a title rather than a name of an angel. This concept of Satan is not accepted by the Christian faiths, as they came to the conclusion that ha-Satan had rebelled against God... this conclusion is unsupported in holy Hebrew scripture. In Jewish faith and tradition, free, even 'rebellious' will, the freedom of choice, is only a concept that relates to man, not to angels. And while Ha-Shem (=God) is a holy 'light', there can only be 'light', as there is no place or space, where God is not. - Islamic Calendar -- Months
The Islamic Calendar is purely a lunar calendar. It attempts to keep in phase with the appearance of the new moon. Each month is defined as beginning at the sighting of the lunar crescent. Therefore, it is currently not possible to predict when a new month will begin with very high accuracy. The moon's visibility depends on many factors including the observer's quality of eyesight and the level of air pollution. - Chinese Calendar -- Months
The legendary beginning of the Chinese calendar developed during the first millennium BC. The legend states that the first Chinese calendar was invented by the first legendary emperor, Huangdi or the Yellow Emperor, whose reign was assigned to 2698-2599 BC. The fourth legendary emperor, Emperor Yao, added the intercalary month. The 60-year stem-branch (gānzhī) cycle was first assigned to years during the first century BC. Giving Huangdi some maturity, the first year of the first cycle was assigned to 2637 BC according to Herbert A. Giles, A Chinese-English Dictionary (1912), and all other Western authors during the late Qing dynasty. Thus since 1984 the current cycle has been 78. - Gregorian Calendar -- Countries
The Gregorian Calendar went into effect in 1582 in all Roman Catholic countries. Protestant and non-Christian countries were slower to adopt the calendar - Great Britain and her possessions adopted the calendar in 1752, Sweden in 1753, Japan in 1873 and China in 1912.
