Heavy Gear is Dream Pod 9's name for their excellent mecha combat game set on Terra Nova in the 62nd society. It's a role-playing game, and a tactical combat game, at the same time. It's cool.

On Technology - The technology in Heavy Gear is not far flung. In fact, all of it is reasonable stuff that doesn’t require a great suspension of disbelief. The focus on the gadgets, gizmos, and Gears in the core book is limited but there is certainly more than enough to get you started.

Heavy Gear biedt een aantal verschillende speltypes. Als belangrijkste natuurlijk de single player modus. Daarin moet je in een serie langdurige campagnes de vijandelijke invasie stoppen. Het bijbehorende plot steekt vrij eenvoudig in elkaar. Je kiest aan het begin van de campagne een eigen robot waarmee je telkens verschillende gevechtsrollen speelt. Van sluipschutter of verkenner tot commando en gewoon klassiek infanteriewerk binnen een team.

Since Bob was now a heavy gear diver, he was given a weekend training dive in HeO2 heavy gear from a barge anchored in 240 feet of water off Santa Barbara. This HeO2 heavy gear helmet had a scuba second stage regulator installed between the lower edge of the face port and the top of the neck ring. Dives were started on air on open circuit and switched to demand mode by breathing through the internal regulator mouthpiece when on gas. Communication was accomplished by briefly going off the mouthpiece to talk. This gas-training dive moved Bob onto the list of gas divers.
