TOLEDO, Ohio, June 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dana Corporation (NYSE: DCN) announced today that it has been awarded the first patent for its AtmoPlas(TM) microwave atmospheric plasma heating technology. The patent is for plasma-assisted joining of metal components. A total of 20 patent applications for AtmoPlas uses are pending in the United States. The key to the AtmoPlas technology is its ability to generate plasma at atmospheric pressure without costly vacuum equipment.

Honda will supply its compact home-use co-generation unit to Climate Energy who will combine it with a furnace or boiler, and market the entire system as an alternative to conventional space heating and electric power in new and existing homes. Working in coordination with state and local authorities as well as energy utilities, limited in-home field test installations will occur by late 2005, with more widespread distribution planned from fall 2006.

Fan heaters warm the air by heating an element inside the unit and using a fan to either push or pull air over the hot element. Fan heaters are typically fairly portable units as they are lighter than other heating methods. Be careful with your sizing for fan heaters. If you think you are close to the limit (click here for the heater sizing calculator), buy a second fan heater as they tend to be excellent when sized well but can very quickly displease when asked to do more than they are capable of.
