No real statement about Hitler was intended. Joran didn't even have the quote correct BTW - the friends are the ones who explained what he was talking about. Joran didn't even "get" what she meant - it didn't translate well. You can verify in several interviw transcripts - Ruth and the other girl she roomed and her "guy friend who was on the trip with her ALL confirmed she said this.

Very few have probably been following the House and Senate budget debates all that closely, but it has been interesting. The Senate gave the administration a big punch in the face by including "Pay-Go" provisions that demand that any new tax cuts must be accompanied by equal cuts in spending- essentially forcing the administration to name exactly which programs it will cut in order to shower more money on the top 1%. House Dems voted in unison to include this in the budget, but the GOP narrowly managed to shoot it down. Today the Dems forced another independent vote on the measure- this is Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer's statement on it:

The real story here is that the NYT sales team is going to have to take all kinds of crap from established customers who call the paper expecting to negotiate similarly low prices. Typically, sales contracts include a clause that keeps the final price confidential.

Recently, there have been raids by the INS in which US citizens were jailed as "illegal aliens" because they "resembled" Mexicans. Many of these people were either Native American, or Hispanics from the Southwestern states whose families have been American Citizens for generations. There might have been some Puerto Ricans, who are US citizens as well in the round-up. In short they were arresting anyone with brown skin and black hair.
