Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Becoming the new "Harry Potter" director is something like becoming the next James Bond. The new talent is scrutinized by die-hard fans brutally; their career assessed and judge, their talents called out, and there's of course the inevitable comparison to their successor. And each of the directors (like the Bonds) have always brought something new to the film adaptations of quite possibly the most popular book saga of all time. Christopher Columbus (hack though he was) first brought the wonderful and stellar cast together, and started the series the way it should be started; as an almost wondrous introduction and view of Harry's magical world. Alfonso Cuaron transformed the liter-minded series into a dark, cinematic wonderland; more like a film than a reading, and he imbued it with his own technical prowess and paved the way for coming directors to add their own ideas to Rowling's mixing bowl. Mike Newell of the fourth film gave it a very British feel; a much sharper sense of humor and an even more adult-oriented (and action film) mindset (note the PG-13 rating).

In the novels, Harry is the only child of James and Lily Potter, born July 31, 1980. Rowling made Harry an orphan from the early drafts of her first book. She felt an orphan would be the most interesting character to write about.[2] However, after her mother's death, Rowling wrote Harry as a child longing to see his dead parents again, incorporating her own anguish into him. Harry's aunt and uncle kept the truth about their deaths from Harry, telling him they died in a car accident.[1] Through his marriage to Ginny Weasley, Harry links the Peverell and the House of Black families. It is unknown whether there have been other links between the two families' history, but this is probable, as they are among the most prominent wizarding families.
In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the fourth film adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s popular Harry Potter novel series, Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) must contend with being mysteriously selected to compete in the prestigious Triwizard Tournament, a thrilling international competition that pits him against older and more experienced students from Hogwarts and two rival European wizarding schools. Meanwhile, supporters of Harry’s nemesis, the evil Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes), send a shockwave of fear throughout the wizard community when their Dark Mark scorches the sky at the Quidditch World Cup, signaling Voldemort’s return to power. But for Harry, this is not the only harrowing news causing him anxiety - he still has yet to find a date for Hogwarts’ Yule Ball dance.

In 1995, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was completed and the manuscript was sent off to prospective agents. The second agent she tried, Christopher Little, offered to represent her and sent the manuscript to Bloomsbury. After eight other publishers had rejected Philosopher's Stone, Bloomsbury offered Rowling a £3,000 advance for its publication.[9]
Unlike the other Harry Potter books, the book is prefaced by two epigraphs, both on the themes of death and friendship. The first is from Aeschylus's The Libation Bearers, and the second is from from William Penn's More Fruits of Solitude.
