Harold Perrineau Jr. (born August 7, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York, USA) is an African American actor. He can currently be seen in the American television series Lost. Before that show he was mostly known for his performance in HBO's Oz and for the character Link in the Matrix films and games. He is often credited without the Jr. suffix.

He's played characters named "Man #1" and "Thug Leader," but thankfully Harold Perrineau Jr. has gotten a number of roles worthy of his talent. The first thing you notice about a Perrineau performance is how precisly he enunciates dialogue while making speech sound natural. This has come in handy when playing language-rich roles in movies based on Shakespeare or Paul Auster, where he pairs his delivery with a knack for getting at the underlying emotions of a scene. He really shines in roles that are well written, which may explain why one feels he deserved more from the Matrix franchise. (Imagine what he'd be capable of if he ever gets cast in a David Mamet film!) When Perrineau appears on the screen he's easy to root for and sympathize with. He's a natural.

An accomplished young actor who has graced the stage, screen, and television, Harold Perrineau Jr. has earned a well-deserved reputation as a performer willing to take on just about anything, with roles ranging from drag queens to hardened criminals. A native of Brooklyn, Perrineau studied music and theatre at the Shenandoah Conservatory, but began his career as a dancer with the Alvin Ailey Company, performing with the troupe for a year and a half. A gradual shift to acting led Perrineau to the theatre, where he acted in a number of shows including Dreamgirls, the critically acclaimed Avenue X, and the off-Broadway revival of Godspell.

CBS: Casting -- Harold Perrineau ("Lost") has come on board the CBS Par-produced "Demons." He'll play Mitch, best friend of the pilot's lead character. Perrineau is in first position on the project, leaving up in the air his fate on "Lost" should producers choose to bring back his character next season. Thesp appears in the upcoming "28 Days Later."
