Hardwar is a free-form and plot-driven game that was inspired by Elite and Privateer. Entire Misplace Optimism is simulated with other crafts moving about their own business, from transport to piracy to bounty hunters and more, and you can join them. Transport your own goods from source to destination to earn a profit. Chase down helpless merchant moths and cut them apart with your weapons and then retrieve their cargo. Chase down pirates and other evildoers on commission of the local police. Upgrade your craft with better components, software, or even new moth models.

Maa Mansadevi Temple is one of the most important temples of North India and the second most important destination after Har-ki-Pauri in Hardwar.Goddess Mansadevi is the daughter of Saint Kashyap. She was born from his mind and therefore became famous by the name 'Mansadevi'. 'Mansa' ... means wishes. Mansadevi is therefore also known as the Goddess who fulfills the wishes of the devotees visiting the temple.Devotees visiting the temple tie threads on a secred tree near the temple seeking blessings of the Goddess for fulfillment of their wishes. They return to untie a thread from the same tree once their wishes are fulfilled.

Hardwar places the player in the role of a freelance "Moth" pilot in the city of Misplaced Optimism, a space colony located on Saturn's moon, Titan. The colony was once a profitable mining outpost, but the major corporations backed out, leaving the inhabitants without the capability of space travel. During two hundred years of isolation, neo-feudal systems took precedent on Titan, with a corrupt and inefficient police force maintaining little law and order.

Between 1786-1794 two British artists, Thomas Daniel & William Daniel visited Hardwar and their numerous paintings are possibly the first visual records of the city. Capt. Thomas Skinner witnessed the Kumbh at Hardwar in 1830 AD said, "We had passed thousands of people in every description of vehicles hastening towards it. They were of all ages, all costumes and all complexions; no spot on earth can produce so great a variety of the human race at one assemblage".

Since 2002, when "The Software Refinery" went into voluntary liquidation, Hardwar is no longer officially supported by its creators. During two years the game was no longer improved except for independent player-developers. However, since November 2004 one of the members of the original team reappeared and started correcting some of the original bugs. The only customer service you'll see is in an online forum dedicated to the game.

The Hardwar Universe is based in a network of interlinked craters on Titan and has a full day/night cycle. This affects your piloting as all craft are solar powered and you will need to keep your cells charged. However, more efficient cells and power management software may be fitted to your craft -- for a price. The power drain on your craft increases the more functions you perform. For example, running at night with (the most useful) infra-red HUD turned on and lasers blazing will see you headed for the nearest Light Well in a very short space of time. But as you upgrade your hardware and become a more proficient pilot, power for normal flight becomes less of a concern.
